The first meme token Dogecoin (DOGE) turns 11

Happycoin.club – Today, one of the most popular memecoins, Dogecoin (DOGE), turned exactly 11 years old. At the moment, the token rate is $0.43, and over the past month, the coin rate has increased by more than 115%.

The memecoin was created on December 6, 2013, by programmers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer. They developed the asset as a parody of the payment system, ridiculing with its help the speculative excitement around cryptocurrencies that had developed at that time.

Despite the humorous component, Dogecoin quickly became popular in the community and won the support of the American billionaire and businessman Elon Musk. The symbol of the coin was a photograph of a Shiba Inu dog named Kabosu, who died on May 24, 2024.

Other project creators also decided to use images of dogs of this breed for their coins, for example, Shiba Inu, Dogwifhat, FLOKI, Neiro and many others.

At the moment, Dogecoin’s capitalization exceeds $63 billion. Memcoin has become the largest in this indicator among similar coins and ranks seventh in the overall cryptocurrency rating according to CoinGecko.
In many ways, the popularity of Memcoin is supported by an active and close-knit community, and personally by Elon Musk, who regularly posts tweets about the token.
